A Love of Travel and Music
I’ve always been in awe of how music can capture the spirit of a place. From dusty roads in small-town festivals across Eastern Europe to colorful street corners in South America, every stop along my journey expanded my perspective—not just on music, but on life itself. My name is Danielle Lieverstone, and I founded the Dennis Pol Music site to celebrate global influences in jazz and beyond. Before bringing that concept to life, I took guitar lessons in Denver at Solohub School of Music, where my passion for creating and exploring sound truly began.
Discovering My Musical Path in Denver
When I arrived in Denver, the draw of open roads and new destinations felt second nature. Travel had provided me with stories aplenty, though I struggled to find an outlet that captured their essence. I would occasionally borrow guitars or hum tunes inspired by these journeys, but I never found the right environment to harness that energy—until I discovered the Solohub School of Music.
Walking in, I sensed a welcoming spirit and met teachers who mixed creativity with solid fundamentals. They showed me how chord structures work, taught finger exercises, and introduced improvisation basics. While practicing, I imagined sun-washed plazas and rustic cafes I had seen abroad. Gradually, my scattered musical ideas turned into something I could truly shape.
Lessons at Solohub School of Music
Each session revealed new approaches. I explored modal scales linked to Mediterranean sounds and experimented with Latin rhythms tied to my Central American adventures. When I left Denver to keep traveling, my guitar became an extension of that spirit, sparking conversations on beaches or in train stations. It also opened doors to underground shows and acoustic gatherings—spots I would have otherwise never discovered.
Solohub wasn’t just about technique or memorizing scales. It showed me how to filter the experiences I’d had on the road into a creative channel. In music, as in travel, there’s something special about stepping into unfamiliar territory. Those lessons gave me enough confidence to start performing my own short sets at hostel events and open-mic nights. Each song I played told a story, merging the places I’d been with the language of guitar.
Carrying Inspiration Across Borders
The more I wrote and performed, the more I saw that travel and music share a mutual bond. Both demand open-mindedness and the willingness to try something new. Whether it was crafting melodies based on foreign harmonies or sharing them with strangers, I found a link between my wanderlust and my growing identity as a guitarist. It wasn’t just about playing perfectly—it was about expressing the people, landscapes, and cultures that had shaped me.
The Path to Creating Dennis Pol Music
Over time, my enthusiasm for cultural fusion led me to create the Dennis Pol Music site. While much of its focus involves jazz blended with Mediterranean and global inspirations, my own story serves as a reminder that music is deeply personal. Every musician brings a background, a set of memories, and a voice shaped by unique experiences.
For me, it all began with countless plane tickets, endless curiosity, and that small classroom in Denver. I’m excited to keep refining my craft and sharing the music I’ve found along the way—stories of new horizons, unexpected friendships, and creative sparks. To fellow travelers and aspiring musicians: a single lesson or a single trip can spark something lasting. Sometimes, it guides you straight into a modest Denver studio…and from there, you never know where your music will take you.
